Weekly Jobless Claims Just Released

Eagles,

Just released - Weekly jobless claims.

For the week of June 13th - Initial jobless claims was up only 3,000 at 608,000

The FOUR week moving average was DOWN 7,000 at 622,750

Continuing Claims - which is the total number on unemployment was DOWN 148,000 to a total 6.687 Million.  This is the first drop in this number since January 3rd.

These numbers are showing continuing STABILIZATION in the economy.

Home mortgage interest rates have settled down some since the 10 year bond auction last week, and with the release of this news, rates are holding steady.

That is good news.   Lets hope it is a sign this thing is turning around.  People like us all over the nation who are self employed with small business cannot apply for unemployment, so I am afraid we will not really know how many are without work or income.
