The weekly jobless claims was just released for last week. HUGE MOVE DOWN in people loosing their jobs. The number was below 500k for the first time since 2/28/09. The total number of people filing for unemployment dropped to 466,000 last week. Continued news for our economic recovery, and I am blessed to be in the Washington DC market, where the unemployment figures are MUCH lower than the rest of the nation.

Thanks for article. Our government needs to stop spending and create jobs.
One thing missing. These reports do not tell you how many people fall off the unemployment rolls, nor do the reports include independent agents like realtors, mortgage brokers, many contractors etc. And the latter is very important, because this makes up a much larger population than it did 20 years ago. I don't consider losing 500,000 jobs a week anywhere near positive considering we have lost so many jobs this year. You would expect the number to be below the 300,000 mark by now.
